Big Sioux Cat Anglers Tournament Rules & Regulations

Promoters: Tournament Officials, sponsors, and organizers assisting in the tournament operation, their agencies, agents, etc. are not responsible for deaths, injuries, damages, liability, theft, fire or loss of any kind to entrants. All entrants must sign the waiver in order to participate. By signing the entry form, you release all promoters, as defined, of any and all liability.

Orientation meeting: At least one member of each team must attend the orientation meeting prior to the tournament. Orientation meeting will be approximately 10 minutes before take-off.

Boat Check: All boats must be checked prior to launching.

State & local ordinances: All State & local ordinances will be enforced. Any violations will result in disqualification. Tournament rule: Participants are allowed to use (2) rods per person with a maximum of (4) rods per team

Method of take: Rod & reel only. No ditty poles, limb lines, trot lines, etc. allowed. No chumming or fishing baited holes. Anyone found cheating will be disqualified. Extra rods & reels are allowed in the boat, but only (2) can be used per person.

Teams: Teams will consist of (1), (2), or (3) people. Teams with (3) people can only use (4) rods maximum.

Fishing Hours: Fishing hrs will be 7am-4pm for day tournaments & 7pm-8am for night tournaments. Delays due to weather will be at the discretion of the tournament director.

Limits: Limits will be 5 fish per team. Channel, Flathead, & Blue Cat are allowed to be weighed- in. (1) dead fish will be allowed to be weighed-in.

Weigh-in: Weigh-in is at the official weigh-in station at the designated ramp. All contestants must be in the weigh-in area within 30 minutes after the end of the tournament. Weigh-in starts at the end of the tournament. Fish must be carried to the weigh-in station in containers such as a cooler with water appropriate to the size of the fish. No stringers at the weigh-in station. (We are trying to speed up the weigh-in process.)

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded based on total weight (pounds & ounces). Prizes will be based on a minimum of 80% payback with big fish at 100% payback. No refunds once the tournament has started.

Ties: Total weight is decided by big fish. Big fish is decided by total weight.

Protests: All protests must be made by the end of weigh-in. Tournament director will announce “end of weigh-in”. All protests will be heard by a (3) person panel appointed by the tournament director. All decisions are final.

Safety: All participants must wear a coast guard approved life saving device at take-off. Navigation lights will be required to be on at all times at night tournaments and during any other low light or foggy conditions. Your boat must be properly equipped for the size of the boat.

Sportsmanship: All participants are expected to follow the highest standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety, and conservation. Disorderly conduct and drunkenness will not be tolerated. You, as a competitor in our tournament, represent our club as well as all fishermen. Do yourself, our club, and all fishermen a favor by being respectful and a true sportsman.
